Native to Europe, the dried butter-yellow flowers of helichrysum or immortelle are used to make a somewhat bitter infusion to treat the gall bladder and urinary system. It helps to regulate bile flow by stimulating the gall bladder to contract; but it is contraindicated where gallstones are present. It also has antibacterial and diuretic properties.
